Service & Support Administration What is an SSA? A service and Support Administrator is the person assigned to most adults and some children as a single point of accountability. This means that the identified service and support administrator is responsible to an individual for the effective implementation and coordination of his or her ISP process. Assessing needs, developing and/or revising the ISP, establishing service budgets, assisting in the selection of providers if applicable, effectively coordinating services, monitoring the implementation of services as described in the ISP, ensure that the individual has a daily representative to assist in decision making of that individual, maintain contact with the individual as well as service providers, ensure due process and appeal rights, ensure the individual has the right to choose any qualified and willing provider, and to research and make referral to other services outside of the county board. As you can see, the SSA is a very busy person. All SSA's must meet certain requirements and be certified through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Most adults have an SSA even if they are not receiving any services through the WCBDD. Some individuals only prefer to have an SSA to help them with generic services and other may have a full range of service coordination. Parents with children over three years of age may request an SSA to assist them with service needs. Many families with young adults have requested an SSA to assist them with educational transitioning. The
Service and Support Administration is a mandated function to support individuals
in determining and pursuing goals and maintains the individual as the focus
while coordinating services across multiple systems. The SSA acts as the single
